OUR COURSES

1

4 Week: Behind the Wheel Training with In-Person Theory

Each student will receive 20 hours of In-Person ELDT Theory Classroom/Lab time and 80 hours of Behind the Wheel (BTW) Range/Public Road Training.

*These hours may vary according to the student’s individual needs.

 

Classroom Instruction:

In the classroom, students will be instructed and tested on all endorsements, map reading, logbooks, truck and trailer parts, and safe driving techniques, among various other skills. Students are issued a 35-chapter Entry-Level Driver Training manual complete with tests at the end of each chapter. Informational videos will be available to our students to enhance their learning experience.

Truck Lab:

Students will observe and learn hands-on how to identify parts of a truck, perform a complete vehicle inspection, troubleshooting and maintenance, tire chaining, coupling and uncoupling, lift axles and weight management.

Range Training:

Students will learn hands-on shifting, backing (L-back, straight back, off-set back and dock a tractor-trailer combination vehicle), parallel parking, vehicle awareness, turning radius, etc.

Public Road Training:

Driving instruction is hands-on driving in various road conditions and situations. This includes driving on the interstate, city and country roads and grades. We have the rare opportunity to give our students real-world experience working with dispatchers, customers and delivering loads in various locations with different challenges to practice the techniques they learned in the classroom and on the range (i.e. loading/unloading, paperwork, entering and exiting procedures of DOT scales, etc).

Admission Requirements: D.O.T. Physical, D.O.T. Drug Screen, Class D Idaho Driver's License

3 Week: Behind the Wheel Training with Online Theory

This option combines Online Theory Instruction with our Behind the Wheel Training and provides the student with BTW Range/Public Road Training with further lab instruction as needed.

Students will learn hands-on shifting, backing (L-back, straight back, off-set back and dock a tractor-trailer combination vehicle), parallel parking, vehicle awareness, turning radius, etc.
